Rekindling the dream after a two-year delay: Former Dai Nam University student affirms his capabilities through his own journey.

"It's better to go slowly on the path you love than to go fast on a path that doesn't suit you" is not only a familiar saying of Doan Thien My, but also the motto for a pivotal choice that completely changed her youth. At the age of 20, while her peers were preparing to graduate from university, this girl from Nam Dinh (now part of Ninh Binh province) held an acceptance letter from a new school. Accepting a two-year delay to start over was not an easy decision, but that very courage opened up a completely different journey for her.

The graduation certificate with a GPA of 3.72 is the well-deserved reward for the courage of young woman Doan Thien My to start over.

Accept going slowly in order to go right.

Few people know that, before becoming the confident media professional she is today, Thien My went through a long period of being consumed by feelings of inferiority.

She confided, "Growing up in a place that values education, watching my friends graduate and start working one after another while I was just starting my first year, I used to feel very embarrassed to introduce myself as someone who had transferred schools."

There were days when she wondered if she was moving too slowly compared to the world around her, but then My gradually realized that the most frightening thing wasn't being slow, but continuing to move too fast on a path that didn't belong to her.

For Doan Thien My, a former student of Public Relations at Dai Nam University, it's better to go slowly on a path you love than to rush on a path that doesn't suit you.

From the mindset that it's better to go slowly on your chosen path than to rush but go in the wrong direction, she created a serious study plan, cherishing each day as a precious opportunity to make up for lost time. This powerful shift in thinking helped the young woman transform her insecurities into motivation, turning two years of "going slowly" into a solid foundation for her entire journey of growth.

Find where you belong.

Thien My's initial choice to study Public Relations at Dai Nam University stemmed from failing to get into her desired program and a fear of missing out. However, the more she delved into her studies, the more she realized she had made the right decision. What kept her there wasn't just the training program, but also an environment that encouraged students to experience, challenge themselves, and feel trusted. Throughout the process of completing her thesis on internal communication, My received enthusiastic support from lecturers and departments at the university, even those who weren't directly involved in teaching.

By applying a professional mindset to even the smallest tasks, Thien My has cultivated self-confidence and the ability to adapt flexibly to the field of media.

"What I appreciate most is that the teachers are always ready to listen, give feedback, and create all the conditions for me to complete my research; there was even a time when I was entrusted with choreographing a performance for the lecturers on the occasion of November 20th," My shared, affirming that these seemingly small things helped her deeply feel that she truly belongs here.

Commenting on this direction, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Hong Hanh - Deputy Head of the Communication Department, said that the school's goal is not only to train professional knowledge, but more importantly to help students build character, confidence, and the ability to adapt to a constantly changing professional environment.

Don't wait until graduation to start.

In contrast to the mindset of many students who wait until their final year to look for a job, Thien My proactively sought out opportunities and gained practical experience while still in university. From her roles as a collaborator and intern at media outlets and news agencies to her position as an Account Manager at an F&B agency, each job provided her with invaluable practical lessons that textbooks could hardly fully convey.

At the age of 23, Thien My currently holds the position of Internal Communications Officer, confidently demonstrating her capabilities and maturity in her practical work.

Thanks to deeply remembering the teachings of her professors at Dai Nam University that "communication is not about saying what you want to say, but about conveying the right message to the right audience, at the right time, and in the right way," My has brought that professional mindset into every task, no matter how small, thereby gradually honing herself into a more confident and mature communication professional every day.

The fruits of perseverance come from hard work.

Thiện Mỹ's persistent and tireless efforts finally yielded many proud achievements: she won first place nationwide in the "Drug-Free School" competition, made it into the Top 10 of the Social Innovation Launch (SiL) startup competition, and maintained an impressive academic record with a GPA of 3.72/4.0 and received scholarships for three consecutive years. At 23 years old, she currently holds the position of Internal Communications Officer at HFL Communications Co., Ltd., overseeing everything from event organization and personnel networking to building and developing corporate culture.

Thien My's greatest success is not just the awards, but the courage to stop, change direction, and follow the right path for herself.

Looking back on her remarkable journey, Thien My no longer considers herself a slow learner. She is proud to be an alumnus of Dai Nam University and wants to share a message with young people: " Don't be afraid to experience new things and don't be afraid to start over, because only when you dare to try will you know what the true path for you is."

Perhaps Đoàn Thiện Mỹ's greatest success lies not in her GPA, glamorous awards, or current job, but in her courage to stop, change direction, and resolutely start over when she realized she was going down the wrong path. Because ultimately, slowing down a little on the right path is far better than rushing headlong on a road that doesn't belong to her.
