Outstanding students from the Faculty of Finance & Banking DNU won the Third Prize in the 8th National Student Science Competition "Olympic Quantitative Economics and Applications"

On June 11, 2023, the scientific research team of the Faculty of Finance & Banking at Dai Nam University, in collaboration with their counterparts from Phenikaa University, achieved the Third Prize in the 8th National Student Science Competition "Olympic Quantitative Economics and Applications".

2023 marked the second year that students from the Faculty of Finance & Banking at Dai Nam University participated in the National Student Science Competition

The 8th National Student Science Competition "Olympic Quantitative Economics and Applications" was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Student Association, the Academy of Finance and the Institute of Mathematics, starting from October 2022. The competition involved the participation of 22 Universities and Academies nationwide.

Amidst the profound and far-reaching impact of digital transformation on various economic and financial sectors, the scientific research team from the Faculty of Finance & Banking at Dai Nam University conducted a study on the impact of digital transformation on the business efficiency of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Banks.

The research team consisted of the following members: Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vo Thi Thu Phuong, Bui Thi Thuy Trang (from the TCNH15-01 class, Faculty of Finance & Banking, Dai Nam University); and Vu Thi Lanh, Nguyen Thi Minh Hang (representatives of Phenikaa University). The team received guidance from MSc. Nguyen Van Duy (Phenikaa University) and MSc. Nguyen Thanh Trung (Dai Nam University).

The study focused on assessing the level of digital transformation within banks from 2015 to 2021 based on the data analysis derived from annual reports. The research results indicated a negative impact of digital transformation on the operational efficiency of banks, as measured by return on assets and return on equity. Furthermore, the study also discovered that the COVID-19 crisis contributed to an increase in bank profitability.

After analyzing the research findings, the team made observations about the state of digital transformation in Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Banks. During the initial five years of the digital transformation process, they observed negative impacts resulting from challenges in information technology infrastructure and human resource training. Additionally, the effective implementation of new digital technologies in business operations is facing many challenges and requires special attention.

In 2022, the student scientific research team from the Faculty of Finance & Banking at Dai Nam University received an Encouragement Prize in this competition
