From Dai Nam to Taiwan: The first students and the 2+2 path to the world.

Two years ago, with the first cohort of K18 students choosing Semiconductor Technology at Dai Nam University, the "2 years in Vietnam - 2 years in Taiwan" journey was still just a plan. Today, that plan has become a reality. The first students have completed their two years of study at Dai Nam University and officially transferred to Long Hoa University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), beginning their next two years in an international educational and technological environment.

This is not just a milestone for the students. It's also the moment when an international collaborative program is validated by the students' own journey.

The delegation, comprising the leadership of Dai Nam University and faculty members from the Semiconductor Technology Department, personally escorted the students to Taiwan to begin their studies.

Two years at Dai Nam - preparing to go further.

The unique aspect of the 2+2 model doesn't simply lie in students studying in two countries. The value of this pathway lies in the thorough preparation from the very first years. Instead of leaving home and immediately entering a completely new environment at the age of 18, students spend their first two years at Dai Nam University building a professional foundation, honing soft skills, preparing their language abilities, and gradually developing their self-learning and independence skills.

During these two years, in addition to the specialized program in semiconductor technology, students receive support in learning Chinese through scholarships from partners and Taiwan, aiming for the A2 level – meeting the transfer requirements.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, a K18 student from the Semiconductor Technology Faculty, shared: “Studying semiconductors in Taiwan has always been my dream, and now that dream has come true. Two years at Dai Nam University have given me a solid foundation and improved my foreign language skills, preparing me for an international environment. I am also very happy that the teachers directly accompanied us to study in Taiwan.”

Study semiconductors in Taiwan - get closer to where the industry operates.

For semiconductor students, Taiwan is more than just a study destination. It's one of the key centers of the global semiconductor industry, deeply involved in many links of the value chain, from design and fabrication to packaging and chip testing. Therefore, the next two years of study at Longhua University of Science and Technology offer students the opportunity not only to learn academic knowledge but also to get closer to the technological environment, laboratories, practical training, and the semiconductor industry's business ecosystem.

During their working visit to Long Hoa, the delegation from Dai Nam University directly surveyed the Semiconductor Component Manufacturing Center, the Semiconductor Packaging and Testing Center, the Smart Manufacturing and 3D Printed Circuit Design facility, and the 5G Mobile Communication Training Center. This is the environment where Dai Nam University students will continue to study and gain experience over the next two years.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Trang - Vice Dean of the Semiconductor Technology Faculty - directly assisted students in exploring the research and practical training system at Long Hoa, thereby helping them better understand the professional requirements that await them in the future.

It's not just about "sending" students abroad.

A unique aspect of the first cohort of students' journey is that they did not begin their new path alone. A delegation from Dai Nam University, including university leaders and faculty from the Semiconductor Technology Department, traveled directly to Taiwan to meet with leaders of the partner university, survey learning facilities, laboratories, dormitories, and student living conditions. From living quarters and dining halls to gyms, sports halls, football fields, and common areas, the delegation personally visited every aspect of the students' lives.

Because international cooperation should not stop at a signing ceremony or an agreement. Wherever students go, the school has a responsibility to accompany them.

Witnessing their teachers from Dai Nam University traveling thousands of kilometers to visit, encourage, and support them as they embark on a new journey, many students couldn't hide their joy.

Representing Dai Nam University, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President of the University Council, shared: “The students present at Long Hoa today are the first to embark on the path of cooperation that the two universities have jointly built. The university hopes that you will study diligently, work hard, and grow in a genuine international environment; not only preparing for your own future but also becoming pioneers for the next generations of Dai Nam students.”

Long Hoa - A crucial link in the path to international training.

Longhua University of Science and Technology has over 50 years of development, with a strong focus on training closely linked to engineering, technology, and the needs of businesses. Currently, the university has nearly 11,000 students, including over 3,100 international students; 94% of its faculty hold doctoral degrees. Its laboratory and workshop facilities are well-developed in various fields such as semiconductors, 5G, high-speed transmission, and precision mechanics.

Representing Long Hoa University of Science and Technology, Dr. Tzu-Hsiang Ko, the President, stated that Long Hoa will provide laboratory facilities, practical training, and student amenities to help Dai Nam University students study and develop their abilities over the next two years; and expressed the hope that the two universities will continue to expand their cooperation programs.

Representatives from the leadership of Dai Nam University and representatives from Long Hoa University of Science and Technology exchanged commemorative gifts, marking a new step in the cooperative relationship between the two universities.

For Dai Nam University, Long Hoa is not just a place to receive transfer students. More importantly, it is a step-by-step approach to building an international training network where students can begin their studies in Vietnam but have the opportunity to access training environments, technology, and businesses in other countries during their studies.

From the first students to the doors of international businesses.

The K18 cohort of students from the Semiconductor Technology Department are the first to embark on the 2+2 path from Dai Nam University to Taiwan. But the ultimate destination of this journey is not a study abroad ticket. That destination is the capacity for employment.

Therefore, alongside the training program, Dai Nam and Long Hoa are discussing connecting students with businesses in Vietnam and Taiwan, giving them opportunities to visit, intern, and experience real-world production processes. Companies like Meiko, Pegatron, LG Innotek, TSMC, and ASE create a vast career ecosystem in technology, electronics, and semiconductors. This ecosystem also places a demand on the university: the training program must adapt to keep pace with technology and the needs of businesses.

Starting with Semiconductor Technology, the two universities are considering expanding their cooperation to Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Information Technology and Networking, Tourism and Entertainment, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The measure of cooperation isn't the number of signed agreements, but how far students go. The roadmap is clear: foundational learning at Dai Nam University, further training abroad, and then entering the workforce. This is how students prepare for a labor market increasingly less constrained by borders.

The classroom lays the foundation. The business world is where competence is tested. The first cohort of students has walked through that door, and the next generations will follow.
