When we teachers teach each other and what do we teach?
In the classroom, teachers are the ones who teach students. But in professional development sessions, teachers teach themselves: learn to listen more deeply, understand more correctly and respond more delicately. The sharing session of Dr. Pham Thi Hong Phuong - Head of the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences with the staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Pharmacy opened up many new approaches so that every dialogue with students becomes more positive and humane.

1. Listening to understand - a familiar skill but needs to be refreshed
The session helped teachers review their daily communication habits: listening with the ears is different from listening with attention. When teachers understand the emotions behind students' words, it is easier for them to create connections, reduce tension and open up two-way dialogue. Techniques such as asking open-ended questions and giving short, to-the-point feedback become useful "soft weapons" in the classroom.

2. Give the right feedback - motivate rather than pressure
Not all feedback leads to positive change. Teachers practice giving feedback that is clear but not hurtful, pointing out problems in a respectful way, and providing solutions that are encouraging. These seemingly small things have a big impact on the learning atmosphere, classroom discipline, and students’ trust in their teachers.

3. Understand to accompany - build a positive educational environment
From real-life situations, teachers of the Faculty of Pharmacy together analyze the psychological causes behind students' behavior, how to identify emotional signals and choose appropriate behaviors. At the same time, communication skills also help increase cohesion between colleagues, support each other more effectively and build a cooperative, positive working environment.

So, learning to change, we teachers not only bring new knowledge to each other but also help each lecturer reflect on themselves. When teachers understand students and colleagues better, they also become better versions of themselves – thereby accompanying students with empathy and responsibility.
