From a fateful fever to a journey of going by hand and reaching for a university degree by heart

There are stories that are not noisy, do not seek the spotlight… but are enough to move anyone in just a moment. The journey of Ha Van Phuong – a new Pharmacist of Dai Nam University in 2025 is such a story: quiet, persistent, but bright.

A fever and a life turned upside down

Born completely healthy, Phuong carried the expectations of his family like any other child. But a sudden fever took away his legs forever. His family took him to many places for treatment. They changed many medicines, changed many hospitals… but the miracle did not happen.

From then on, Phuong's hands became his legs. And his life journey began with determined steps on those hands.

Go to school with your hands, keep your dreams with self-respect

When Phuong decided to go to university, many people worried more than believed her. The long journey, slippery rain, steep slopes, stairs, practice rooms, hundreds of classes… But Phuong said one sentence that made everyone silent: “I don’t need priority. I just need to be able to study equally like everyone else.”

Since then, a familiar image appeared in DNU lecture halls: A man moving with two small wooden chairs, flexible hands and a spirit that never slowed down.

Phuong refused all special support. Not because she wanted to appear strong, but because she wanted to live by her own efforts.

But DNU is always there: dedicated, gentle, non-imposing teachers , supportive friends but always respecting self-reliance , a humane learning environment, true to the philosophy "For dedicated learners"

Phuong said: “If I had to choose again, I would still choose Dai Nam University. Here, I am respected, helped, loved and shared with.”

Get a college degree with heart

In 2025, Ha Van Phuong received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. But for him and for all those who witnessed it, it was not just a degree. It was a steadfast heart, extraordinary will, 20 years of tireless effort and proof that there are no limits for those who dare to live life to the fullest.
