Staying up all night with patients on duty, growing from patient cases: The journey of a 6th-year medical student at Dai Nam University.
Beyond classroom lectures, medical students at Dai Nam University embark on their graduation internship with real pressure, real cases, and real responsibilities. Initial awkwardness transforms into confidence when facing patients; this journey not only hones their skills but also nurtures medical ethics, character, and a desire to contribute to the medical field.
When each case is a living lesson

Entering the hospital environment, Year 6 medical students at Dai Nam University are trained according to the "1 doctor - 1 student" model, where every professional procedure is closely and directly supervised.
Looking back on his three-month internship at Phu Tho Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, student Tran Hai Dang feels he has matured a great deal. From the early days of entering the hospital environment with its high workload, future doctors inevitably felt a sense of bewilderment at first.
The pressure from workload, differences in living environment, and responsibilities pose numerous challenges for the sixth-year medical students at Dai Nam University.
At the closing ceremony, students of the Faculty of Medicine - Dai Nam University had the opportunity to reflect on their own growth after each encounter with "special" cases.
"In the early days away from home, I was worried about adapting and the pressure of the job. But thanks to the support of my teachers and the guidance of the doctors, I gradually got used to it and became more mature," Tran Hai Dang shared.
Tran Hai Dang and other medical students from Dai Nam University had the opportunity to gain clinical knowledge at Phu Tho Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.
After three months of internship, many students, who were initially hesitant in applying theory to practice, have become more confident in their skills in examination, procedure execution, and handling clinical situations.
Beyond professional knowledge, the students also acquire the "art" of communicating with patients – a crucial element of the medical profession.
Memories of the internship are not just about clinical classes, but also about unforgettable moments in the journey of saving patients' lives amidst the threat of death.
The teachers and doctors are always there to encourage, guide, and teach the future doctors.
Student Tran Hai Dang recounted a memorable shift at the Obstetrics Department, when a pregnant woman experienced a dangerous complication: placenta previa invading the bladder. Dedicated support from teachers and doctors.
A crucial support system that helps students overcome pressure is the close attention from the school and the medical staff at the hospital.
Student Nguyen Thanh Tam emotionally shared: “The teachers and doctors always monitor, listen to, and support us in even the smallest things. We feel cared for as if we were family.”
