National Conference on Training Trends and Career Opportunities for Korean Language Students: Highly relevant and applicable

On the morning of June 28, Dai Nam University (DNU) organized the National Conference on Training Trends and Career Opportunities for Korean Language Students.

The conference facilitated the collaboration of notable experts from Vietnam and South Korea, who presented 40 scholarly papers and actively participated in dynamic and practical debates. This serves as an important reference for DNU and other educational institutions to effectively update and apply modern Korean language training trends, enhancing job opportunities for students.

The organizing team from Dai Nam University comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Anh Tai – Vice President, leaders, staff, and faculty members from the Korean Language and Culture Department, as well as representatives from several departments, offices, institutes, and centers within the university.

From the government side, Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh - Director of the Inspection Department - Ministry of Foreign Affairs was present.

The Korean delegation in Vietnam consisted of Mr. Choi Jae Jin, who serves as the Chief Representative of the Hanoi Office of the Korea Foundation.

From the sponsors, attendees included Mr. Steve Bui - Chairman of Delta E&C Group, Ms. Doan Thai Thuy - Chairwoman of Vinako Edu, Ms. Vu Ngoc Mai - General Director of K-Focus International JSC, and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy – Director of Hi Korean Language Center.

In addition, the conference witnessed the involvement of scientists and researchers who are faculty members at universities and research institutes in Vietnam and South Korea.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Anh Tai stated that DNU will continue to organize national and international conferences to foster comprehensive academic exchange platforms.

This event offers a platform for scientists and researchers to engage in discussions, stay informed about, and implement contemporary trends in Korean language teaching. Its objective is to meet the growing demand for Korean language and culture studies in Vietnam. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen collaboration between Korean language training institutions in Vietnam and South Korea.

Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh - Director of the Information and Culture Department, State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) affirmed: "The conference topic is timely and highly applicable. It is a unique opportunity for training institutions to convene, interchange, and deliberate on critical issues in Korean language research and education, with the goal of securing favorable internship and employment opportunities for students upon their graduation."

The plenary session began with a research group from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology analyzing "factors affecting the interest in studying Korean Language at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology." They proposed solutions to enhance the quality of training and foster effective motivation for students' studies.

A research group from CMC University presented on the "specialization model of instructors by topic in the General Korean Studies course."

The Korean Language and Culture Department of Dai Nam University researched the "phenomenon of cultural practice classes for foreigners learning Korean."

Phenikaa University presented a paper at the conference focusing on "novel approaches to improve the educational standards of Korean language students in order to meet the requirements of employers."

During the discussion session, experts conducted a thorough evaluation of the benefits and drawbacks of training trends and put forward solutions for the advancement of job prospects for Korean language students in the era of Industry 4.0.

The National Conference on Training Trends and Career Opportunities for Korean Language Students 2024 organized by Dai Nam University truly served as a bridge connecting experts, scientists, faculty, and students. The conference made a significant impact by providing useful knowledge, experiences, and profound viewpoints presented by prominent specialists in the field of Korean language study and instruction. This will be an important "key" for universities, academies, and research institutes to further enhance the quality of Korean language training in the coming time.
