Medical Students - A Journey That Starts with the Piano Keys

Each person chooses the medical profession for a different reason: some because of the desire to save people, others because of family tradition. For Do Lam Thien Bao - a freshman in K19 of the Medical Faculty at Dai Nam University - that journey began from... the piano keys.
Do Lam Thien Bao is about to graduate from the Vietnam National Academy of Music at the age of 18 and is currently a freshman of K19, Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University.
When music sows the seeds of dreams
Since grade 2, Thien Bao has studied piano professionally and found joy in every sound. After more than ten years of dedication, he has achieved a rare achievement: preparing to graduate from the Vietnam National Academy of Music in both Classical Piano and Keyboard AGO departments at the age of 18.
Music taught Bao perseverance, subtlety and especially empathy - qualities that he later believed would make up the medical ethics of a physician. “From my heart, I want to become a doctor to help many people have a better life,” Bao shared.
The heart nurtures another dream
Despite his success in music, the 2k7 boy’s heart still resonates with another melody: the desire to wear a white coat. The image of his father, a doctor of Oriental medicine, devoted to treating patients, his mother who used to work in the hospital environment, and the joy of patients recovering from despair… all planted in him the dream of becoming a doctor.
Not only continuing the family tradition, Bao also carries responsibility for his friends and peers. Understanding the difficulties of his friend with heart disease, he aims to become a resident cardiologist - to help protect young hearts from danger.
Dai Nam - where the first beats were sown
When deciding to study Medicine at Dai Nam University, Thien Bao received absolute support from his parents. After only one week of studying, the 2k7 boy had unforgettable impressions of Dai Nam: "When they knew I chose to study Medicine at Dai Nam, my parents urged me to enroll immediately because I had previously researched the training program, teachers and facilities here to share with my parents. I have only been enrolled for more than a week, but I am very impressed with the dedication of the teachers and the open learning environment."
The humorous young man shared: "The only difficulty is that the school has too many activities, I don't know if I'll miss any events."
A youth dares to take the difficult path
18 years old - holding a music degree and pursuing a career in medicine. The path is not easy, but it is the difficulty that makes the difference. Music gives Bao ears to listen and a heart to vibrate. Medicine trains Bao to have an analytical mind and strong hands to heal.
Perhaps one day, the hands that glide over the piano keys today will become the hands that save people tomorrow. And that is the beauty of youth: daring to dream, daring to move forward, daring to persevere.
Dai Nam University is proud to accompany Thien Bao and thousands of other students - who are writing their own special journey, where mind, heart and emotions are in harmony to become future doctors with full courage and soul.
