From a boy who needed healing to a college student who wants to heal others.
Some people enter university with their parents by their side. Some people eagerly return home every weekend after a week of studying. But Nguyen Van Tuyen walked through the gates of Dai Nam University... alone.

From the losses he experienced in his childhood, Nguyen Van Tuyen chose to study Psychology with the desire to heal himself and support those who are suffering.
Tuyên had no memory of his father, his mother was born blind and passed away when he was very young. His maternal grandmother – who raised him in his mother's place – also quietly left him due to old age. From then on, Tuyên was left with almost no true support system.
There are gaps that nothing can fill, but there are also gaps that make people mature earlier than their age.
Learn to change your life.
To continue her university studies, Tuyen chose to work while studying. During the day, she attended classes, and after class, she worked part-time to earn money for tuition, rent, and living expenses. Some days, she would return home after the city lights had come on, quietly opening her textbooks to prepare for the next morning's classes.
Life as a final-year student leaves almost no time for rest, but he has never thought about giving up.
"I've always believed that only learning can change my life. If I stop learning, I'll be closing the door to my own future," Nguyen Van Tuyen shared.
It was the losses I experienced in my childhood that led me to study Psychology.
"Initially, I chose this major because I wanted to understand my own emotions and heal the voids in my life. But the more I studied, the more I realized that psychology not only helps me understand myself but also helps me support others in overcoming difficulties," the young student confided.
Driven by a desire for self-healing, Tuyen gradually identified a career path in the field of psychological counseling and therapy. She hopes that one day she can become a good listener, helping those who are suffering from trauma to regain their confidence and move forward.

Nguyen Van Tuyen's efforts in balancing work and study helped him consistently win scholarships, actively participate in scientific research, and engage in numerous Youth Union and Student Association activities at Dai Nam University.
From someone who needs healing to someone who wants to heal others.
Those persistent efforts gradually paid off. For many consecutive semesters, Tuyen received scholarships from the school, successfully fulfilled his role as Secretary of the TLH18-01 Youth Union, actively participated in scientific research with the topic "Characteristics of personality and behavior of social media addiction," participated in the Green Summer Campaign, the ASEAN knowledge contest, and won first prize in the Ho Chi Minh Storytelling Contest in 2026.
However, what teachers remember about Tuyen is not just her academic achievements, but also the way she chose to live and face adversity.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai, Deputy Head of the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences and also the homeroom teacher of class TLH18-01, assessed that what she appreciated most was not Tuyen's special circumstances, but the way she chose to confront life's losses.

Nguyen Van Tuyen believes that knowledge not only opens up opportunities to change lives but also helps each person spread empathy and positive values to the community.
"What we value most is that Tuyen didn't let her losses make her withdrawn. She proactively took on the responsibility of Secretary of the Youth Union Branch and actively participated in activities of the faculty and the university. She transformed her trauma into empathy, which is a very valuable quality for someone pursuing a career in psychology," commented Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai.
Perhaps because she had experienced days lacking love, Tuyen understands better than anyone the value of encouragement, a listener, and a helping hand at the right time. She doesn't just want to heal herself, but also hopes to become someone who can heal others.
When education gives young people more than just a diploma.
The most memorable moment of Tuyen's college years wasn't receiving a scholarship or standing on the podium to receive an award, but rather when she stood on the stage for the storytelling competition about President Ho Chi Minh.
Looking down at the auditorium, seeing the applause from teachers and friends, and even the emotional tears of the judges, Tuyen suddenly realized that she had never truly been alone.

Nguyen Van Tuyen's journey is a testament to the resilience, perseverance, and desire for a meaningful life of young people.
"Seeing the applause and the emotional tears of the judges, I realized that love is always present around me. Just living kindly, sincerely, and fully in each moment is happiness," she said. Tuyên recounted.
Echoing that sentiment, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai shared that Nguyen Van Tuyen's journey clearly reflects the spirit of "Unleash your identity - Illuminate your journey" that Dai Nam University pursues.

With the philosophy "Unleash your identity - Illuminate your journey," the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences creates opportunities for each student to discover themselves, develop their strengths, and grow on the path to becoming future psychology professionals.
It's about creating an environment where every young person can discover themselves, develop their strengths, cultivate compassion, and grow from their own experiences.
Because a university doesn't just give students a degree; more importantly, it gives them the confidence to rise above adversity, the resilience to move forward, and the aspiration to live a meaningful life.

Faculty members of the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences always accompany and support students in developing their professional competence, vocational skills, and humanitarian spirit.
If, as a child, Nguyen Van Tuyen couldn't choose where he started, today he has chosen the path he will take. That path begins with loss, is illuminated by knowledge, and will continue to be guided by empathy for those who have been in similar situations to him.
