On the morning of February 14, 2023, Dai Nam University continued to sign a training cooperation agreement with the University of Minnesota Duluth, a member university of the University of Minnesota - ranked 41st in the world according to the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and ranked 100th according to The Higher Education 2022.

Dr. Le Dac Son highly appreciated and expected that the cooperation would bring development opportunities not only for the two universities but also strengthen the diplomatic relations of the two countries.

Attending the signing ceremony:

On the side of the University of Minnesota Duluth, there were Dr. Karl Markgraf - Director, Head of International Programs and Services; Dr. Praveen Aggarwal - Dean of the Labovitz School of Business and Economics, University of Minnesota Duluth.

On behalf of the US Embassy in Hanoi, there were Ms. Kate Bartlett - Cultural Attaché; Ms. Nguyen Dang Minh Chinh - Senior Advisor on US Education; Ms. Bui Phuong Anh - US Education Advisor.

On behalf of Dai Nam University, there were Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Hong - Principal; along with teachers in the Board of Directors, leaders of the Faculty of Business Administration and representatives of the leaders of departments and offices in the university.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Le Dac Son highly appreciated the cooperation between Dai Nam University and the University of Minnesota Duluth, and believed that the cooperation would promote the educational development of both sides as well as further strengthen the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States.

Dr. Praveen Aggarwal expressed his joy at cooperating with Dai Nam University, building a close, cohesive, and comprehensive friendship between the two sides.

Dr. Praveen Aggarwal - Dean of Labovitz School of Business and Economics shared: This is the second visit and working session of the University of Minnesota Duluth at Dai Nam University, marking a major turning point in the comprehensive cooperation process between the two sides, aiming to build a cooperative relationship in training in higher education, helping both schools achieve the goal of global interaction.

Accordingly, starting from the 2023-2024 school year, the two sides will begin implementing the 2+2 dual degree program, allowing Dai Nam University students to study in Vietnam for the first 2 years, and from the 3rd year they will transfer to study at the University of Minnesota Duluth, complete the study program and receive a Bachelor of Business Administration - majoring in Management and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Praveen Aggarwal also said that the University of Minnesota Duluth has developed scholarship programs to support Dai Nam students to complete the dual bachelor's degree program at a reasonable cost. Specifically, Dai Nam University students will receive scholarships of up to 6,000 USD/student/year from Minnesota Duluth.

With the signed 2+2 dual degree program, Dai Nam University students have the opportunity to receive 3 prestigious diplomas.

Dai Nam University students participating in the 2+2 dual degree program will receive a Bachelor's degree from both universities and can then continue their studies in the one-year Master of Business Administration program at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Thus, students can receive 3 degrees within 5 years.

“In the future, we hope to have more opportunities for students in other majors, helping the cooperation between the two sides to achieve outstanding results. In addition to the student exchange program, we expect to cooperate in other areas, including: Exchange of lecturers and staff between the two schools, scientific research, cooperation in developing conferences and seminars, study abroad programs... The University of Minnesota Duluth is committed to mutual cooperation between the two sides, supporting students and lecturers to exchange and accumulate knowledge. We look forward to deeply cooperating with Dai Nam University, building a close, close, comprehensive friendship for many years to come..." Dr. Praveen Aggarwal said.

It is known that in Vietnam, the University of Minnesota is currently cooperating with three schools: Hanoi National University; Foreign Trade University, and VinUni International University.

Ms. Kate Bartlett highly appreciated the cooperation activities and committed that the United States will create the most favorable conditions for the cooperation between the two schools to be effective.

Witnessing the signing ceremony of the training cooperation between Dai Nam University and the University of Minnesota Duluth, the representative of the US Embassy in Hanoi, Ms. Kate Bartlett said: “Today's signing ceremony is not only a cooperation between two universities but also a cooperation between two countries; actively contributing to the people-to-people diplomatic relationship between the two countries. That is something we strongly support. We are committed to providing the best support for the development of university training between the two countries in general and the cooperation between Dai Nam University and the University of Minnesota Duluth in particular…”

Dai Nam students are excited about the 2+2 dual degree program that is being implemented.

Leaders of the two schools planted souvenir trees, marking the comprehensive and long-term cooperation between the two sides.

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is a member of the University of Minnesota system, founded in 1947, with an area of about 100 hectares, in the port city of Duluth - Minnesota, USA.

UMD is currently home to more than 10,000 students, with approximately 304 international students from 41 countries.

The school ranked 89/684 schools teaching Master's programs in the US according to Washington Monthly Ranking; ranked 36th among the best public schools in the Midwest of the US according to US News & World Report Best Colleges of 2014.
