The festival “The meaningful cake – Spring of connection, Tet of sharing” has ended but the emotions of nostalgia, peace and pride still fill the hearts of every staff, lecturer and student of Dai Nam University. The program not only honors the traditional cultural values of the nation so that generations can find their roots but is also a place for teachers and students to exchange and connect emotionally; students learn new skills and practice their profession right on the school yard.

The program "Banh chung tinh" - Spring of connection, Tet of sharing" attracted the participation of many staff, lecturers and students of Dai Nam University.

A meaningful program for the community

Mr. Pham Van Hong - Principal shared: “The program of giving meaningful cakes is a very interesting initiative of Dai Nam University. This is not only an opportunity for students to learn about traditional Vietnamese culture but also to raise awareness and responsibility of young people towards society, towards the difficult lives in life…”

The Board of Directors and teachers checked in at Cho Que Quy Mao 2023.

As the "founder" of the program, Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal could not hide her emotions when "The cake of love" increasingly affirmed its "name", being welcomed by teachers, students and the community.

She said: “It is a great pride that for the past 12 years, teachers and students of Dai Nam have always supported the program. Although everyone's salary is not high and the students still have many difficulties, every time Tet comes, everyone wants to contribute a little bit of their sincerity to share with the less fortunate. That is the motivation for us to continue to organize more charity programs like this, also to help students know how to live for everyone and for the community!...”

DNU teachers and students happily wrapped cakes to give to people in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Tran Dang Cong - Head of Information Technology Department expressed: "The meaningful cake is a humane program with a noble gesture. The banh chung cakes made by students themselves (wrapping - boiling - scooping the cakes) are all delivered to people in difficult circumstances, helping them have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet. This activity needs to be expanded and done more often".

The rain did not discourage the DNUERs. Each batch of cakes was carefully scooped and pressed.

Be grateful and appreciate life

After nearly 10 years of accompanying the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Head of Soft Skills Training and Development Department said: “I feel happy when the program is growing stronger and stronger, bustling with a grand scale. This means that those in difficult situations will be helped more. Only by going, meeting and sharing with difficult situations, can we teachers and students see that we are luckier and happier than many people; feel more appreciative of our lives…”

Chung cakes are made with the mission of sharing love and bringing a full Tet holiday to those in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Le Van Duy - Head of Nursing Department also expressed: "The gifts, though small, are full of affection from DNU teachers and students. Through these trips, not only students but also teachers keep for themselves memories and meaningful lessons in life. Be grateful and appreciate more what you have."

Mr. Le Van Duy personally handed over Tet gifts from Dai Nam University to patients being treated at Ha Dong General Hospital.

Participating in giving banh chung and Tet gifts to patients at Ha Dong General Hospital, Do Tuong Son, class YK 14.01, could not help but be moved: “While everyone is happy and busy preparing for Tet, the patients and their families have to “stick” to the hospital, lacking everything. Personally giving gifts to the patients, I feel so moved and cherish the moments of reunion with my family; at the same time, I remind myself to try hard to study to become a good doctor in the future…”

A cake given away is the whole heart and love of teachers and students of Dai Nam University.

Strong bonds

Ms. Pham Thi Lien - Vice Principal shared: "This is the first time I have participated in the Tam Banh Nghia Tinh program. I find this a humane program, bringing positive energy, making "newbies" like me feel excited and deeply connected to the School. When participating in the program, teachers and students participate in many common activities, creating solidarity and close ties with each other."

Ms. Le Thi My Ngoc – Head of the Faculty of Logistics and Supply Chain Management also expressed: “Being able to join the students, making cakes, arranging flowers, displaying fruit trays, competing in tug of war… makes me and the teachers feel like young again. The program not only helps teachers and students find their roots but also connects teachers and students, connecting staff, lecturers, and students with the School and the community…”

Flower arrangement and fruit tray display competitions bring teachers and students closer together.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Business Administration said: "What makes the brand of the program "Banh Nghia Tinh" is the consensus of the entire system, from the Board of Directors to the staff, lecturers and students of Dai Nam University. Everyone joins hands to contribute to spreading sharing and love to the community".

Teachers and students enthusiastically cheered on the tug of war competition.

Nguyen Van Huy, a student of IT class 13.01, confided: “This is the third time I have participated in the program. This year, I learned how to wrap banh chung. The meaningful cake is a meaningful program, helping students from different faculties to exchange, learn and help each other to progress together.”

“Playground for learning and practicing profession” for students

A special feature of this year’s program is that students of the Health Department can “practice their profession” right on the school grounds. Accordingly, teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing will provide health consultations to staff, lecturers, and students before the new year.

Teachers and students of the Faculty of Medicine provide health consultation right on the school yard.

Ms. Can Thi Cuc - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Medicine said: "Health check-ups are a necessary thing during the Tet holiday. This is a practical activity for medical students to practice examining and providing health and nutrition advice to "family members" - teachers, students and parents of DNU".

Nguyen Quang Anh - Nursing class 15.01 shared: “The meaningful cake is a meaningful and exciting program, giving me a warm and happy feeling like a family. At the program, my friends and I also received health consultation and blood type determination for everyone. This is a useful activity because not everyone knows their blood type.”

Nursing students practice blood typing for teachers and students.

As the MC of the program, Nguyen Thuy Linh - a student of the Faculty of Communication, could not help but be happy and excited. She said: “I feel extremely proud when my teachers trust me with the responsibility of “leading” a big program like Tam Banh Nghia Tinh. Through this, I not only get to practice my profession and demonstrate my abilities, but also learn meaningful lessons about love and sharing with the community…”

The program "Banh Nghia Tinh - Xuan Tiet, Tet Chia Chia" has left many impressions and beautiful memories in the hearts of every staff, lecturer, student of Dai Nam University in particular and the community in general. The school will continue to send Spring gifts from teachers and students of Dai Nam University to those in difficult circumstances at the National Children's Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Tan Trieu K Hospital, Sait Paul Hospital, Ha Dong General Hospital, Quan Cam Leprosy Camp - Bac Ninh; poor children, lonely and homeless elderly people in Hanoi; families of war invalids and martyrs, poor households in Phu Lam and Phu Luong wards - Ha Dong - Hanoi; kindergarten and primary school students of Lam Vy - Dinh Hoa - Thai Nguyen...
