Success or failure depends on skills: Dai Nam students have their knowledge gaps in KNM filled right from the first year.

Realizing the mission: "Training students to have a good life and be good citizens after graduation", Dai Nam University (DNU) focuses all resources to improve the quality of training. Graduates meet the requirements of professional knowledge; professional skills; foreign language and information technology skills; standard attitude; discipline and good health. In particular, Dai Nam University students are also equipped with professional and systematic soft skills (SSL) to conquer employers and integrate into diverse working environments.
Success or failure depends on skills
On the human resource chart, professional knowledge accounts for only 4%, professional skills 26% and attitude accounts for 70%. Most businesses employ workers with good professional knowledge in low positions, the higher the position (management, leadership), the more important the factors of professional knowledge and attitude become.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Hong - Principal of Dai Nam University affirmed: "Specialized knowledge in university is a NECESSARY factor to help students establish a career in the future. To be successful and overcome difficulties and challenges in life, young people need to have professional skills, a standard attitude towards life and a good health foundation. That is ENOUGH to create lifelong success..."
KNM is one of the strengths in the training program of Dai Nam University.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Hong, KNM is currently a huge “gap” for Vietnamese students after graduation. Universities must be responsible for helping students fill that gap during their time at school.
“KNM is not only necessary in life but also an extremely important recruitment criterion for businesses, because it reflects whether employees can integrate into the working environment and achieve the highest work efficiency or not. The KNM learned in university will become an important premise for the formation of working skills and life skills for young people to build a stable career in the future,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Hong.
Realizing the importance of soft skills, since 2013, Dai Nam University has made soft skills a core subject. Dai Nam University is also the first university to have a Soft Skills Training and Development department to serve the basic and in-depth training of soft skills for students of the whole school.

“Filling” the gap in students' KNM knowledge with “Soft Skills Training Camp”
The rate of graduates who have jobs and are highly appreciated by businesses is the most accurate and objective reflection of the quality of training at the university. Statistics show that most of Dai Nam University graduates have jobs in their majors, in which many majors have 100% of students recruited while still in school. This is the desired number of many universities.
Ms. Hoa reminded students to try to cultivate soft skills to develop comprehensively in Morality - Intelligence - Strength.
Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Principal shared: "At Dai Nam University, students are taught about life attitude, work attitude, communication skills, teamwork skills, presentation skills, negotiation skills, discipline... right from the moment they enter the school. KNM lessons in class, KNM camp experiences throughout the semesters have helped Dai Nam students understand that "success - failure depends on skills; attitude is more important than level".

Following the interesting theoretical lessons in class, K16 students of Dai Nam University entered the KNM1 training program. With the theme "Success or Failure depends on Skills", the first-year students confidently broke down their own barriers, equipping themselves with many useful KNM (teamwork skills, time management skills, solidarity, perseverance, persistence, gratitude, the right attitude towards life and having clear goals...)
Through 3 experiential sessions with 3 clear purposes, the morning emphasizes knowledge; the afternoon focuses on skill development and the evening experiences emotions and changes attitudes, KNM Training Camp 1 brings many useful experiences to students.

Most of the students interviewed said that this was the first time they had participated in a KNM1 training program. With exciting and vibrant activities; new learning methods; and a friendly learning atmosphere, the KNM1 training camp helped students realize who they are, become more confident, and learn many important skills. In particular, this is also a playground to help connect students. Students from different classes and majors have the opportunity to connect, work in groups, and have become closer and more united even though they are not in the same class or department...
“Solidarity Steps” is one of the interesting challenges and experiences of the Soft Skills Camp.
The activity "Team Power" brings young people together.
Jackets, masks… are all used to hold water.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Deputy Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development of Dai Nam University shared: "KNM Training Camp 1 is a form of "experiential" learning with the purpose of bringing theoretical lessons in class into practical activities. With the combination of military camp and summer camp, participating in KNM Training Camp 1, K16 students experience the discipline, seriousness, and harshness of the military camp; the fun, relaxation, cooperation, and teamwork of the summer camp".
Ms. Thuy reminded students about discipline, solidarity, and dedication in study and life.
It can be said that the KNM Training Camp is one of the learning contents that Dai Nam students especially look forward to, enjoy and desire to experience. The learning model combining military camp and summer camp with interesting and useful experiential activities not only helps young people break through and remove all their barriers to "come out" but is also a playground for students of different faculties in the school to exchange, learn and connect. The Soft Skills Training Camp is also a place to preserve the beautiful and pure memories of student life.
