Comprehensive management innovation in training quality and deepening organizational culture are identified as two vital tasks of Dai Nam University (DNU) in the period of 2023 - 2030.

Comprehensive innovation in training quality management to meet the country's human resource requirements in the new period

Dai Nam University is focusing all resources on innovation in quality management of undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Directing at the talk on culture and strategic actions of Dai Nam University in the period of 2023 - 2030 for key leaders on the occasion of early spring 2023, Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the University Council said: Innovation in training quality management at all levels is an important task of the Vietnamese higher education system. At Dai Nam University, this is a vital task for the future of the University. All cadres, lecturers and staff of Dai Nam University need to clearly understand this task according to the motto: Understanding - Implementation - Efficiency.

Accordingly, the tasks that must be done synchronously at the fastest possible speed to dramatically change the training quality of Dai Nam include:

1. Replace the old training program “heavy on academic theory, lacking practical skills” with a training program “teaching core issues - close to reality”. Students must have maximum experience at the enterprise. Training programs must be interconnected with prestigious universities in the country and internationally.

2. Replace the passive teaching style of "teacher reads - student copies" with a teacher who acts as a "coach" to guide students on how to learn theory, skills to apply theory to practice, and train students in the habit of self-study for lifelong learning.

3. Change the previous method of "memorization" to flexible testing methods to reduce pressure on students; evaluate students based on their understanding and skills in implementing the subject content. Gradually apply technology so that students can "study and test anytime, anywhere", ensuring correct and fair assessment of students' learning outcomes.

4. Graduates must be able to use English to meet the requirements of their jobs. The English program in each major is suitable for the specific characteristics of the profession.

5. Establish a job support center to help students find jobs immediately after graduation.

After 15 years of construction and development, Dai Nam University has created a solid foundation to accelerate development in the new period.

Building and deepening Dai Nam University culture

Dr. Le Dac Son emphasized: “No business can survive just by defeating its competitors. For Dai Nam University, to survive and develop, the most important thing is to surpass itself. Dai Nam must accelerate, change, and restructure to develop, accelerate, and seize opportunities...”

Accordingly, the University Council has identified key tasks to be done in the 2023-2030 period to fundamentally change the training quality mentioned above, while continuing to deepen the unique identity of "Dai Nam University Culture."

Specifically, Dai Nam University Culture is expressed in:

1. School mission: "To train students to have a good life and be good citizens after graduation".

2. Core cultural values:

2.1. For honor: Integrity

Integrity means always treating others with moral standards and honor.

  • Respect others;

  • Be straightforward, honest and fair;

  • Consistency between words and actions;

  • Be on time and complete work on time;

  • Timely notification and taking responsibility, remedying all consequences when knowing that promises and commitments cannot be kept.

Behaviors NOT ALLOWED at Dai Nam University (because they go against core values).

  • Insulting, disrespectful to others;

  • Fraud, unfairness;

  • Not doing what was promised;

  • Avoid responsibility, blame.

  • Cheating, backbiting;

2.2. For learners: Dedication

Dedication is trying your best ability, strength, and enthusiasm to complete the best work.

Key behaviors to DO at Dai Nam University (for breakthrough development, happy working environment):

  • Listen to understand the learner;

  • Proactively advise, closely monitor, and patiently support until learners achieve their goals;

  • Willing to do and go beyond the scope of responsibility to help learners achieve their goals;

  • Resolutely refuse and prevent things that are harmful to learners.

Behaviors NOT ALLOWED at Dai Nam University:

  • Not listening and understanding learners;

  • No dedicated advice and support, causing difficulties for learners;

  • Having an angry, rude, or inappropriate attitude or behavior towards students.

2.3. For the school: Constantly making breakthroughs

Always set and conquer challenging goals that require exploring and applying new ways of doing things.

  • Set ambitious and challenging goals;

  • Innovation in every action, every work;

  • Courage to admit mistakes;

  • Take responsibility for your own failures;

  • Analyze to find better solutions after failure.

Behaviors NOT ALLOWED at Dai Nam University:

  • Lack of will, lack of desire in work;

  • Refuse to consider and experiment with new ways of doing things;

  • Avoid responsibility and blame when an incident occurs;

  • Give up when the first attempt fails.

2.4. For colleagues: Willing to share

Education is about connection so be ready to share and proactively help colleagues in work and life.

Key behaviors to DO at Dai Nam University (for breakthrough development, creating a happy working environment):

  • Willing to support and share resources to help colleagues achieve goals;

  • Willing to listen and understand colleagues;

  • Willing to participate in sharing and connecting activities.

Behaviors NOT ALLOWED at Dai Nam University

  • No support, no resource sharing.

  • Jealousy, envy, isolation of colleagues.

  • Avoid work, shirk responsibility.

2.5. For yourself: Always learn

Be modest, proactive in learning knowledge, skills and experience from those around you to improve your own capacity.

  • Actively read books, update information to improve knowledge;

  • Take the initiative to learn from colleagues and those around you;

  • Actively participate in job-related courses and seminars;

Behaviors NOT ALLOWED at Dai Nam University:

  • Complacent, not willing to innovate;

  • Avoid participating in exchange and sharing programs;

  • Not accepting and listening to suggestions and feedback.

3, Goal 2035: To be the best university in the direction of "Startup and innovation " among the best universities in Vietnam.

4, Vision 2035: Become the top choice of learners with the majors being trained at the School.

5. Action motto: "Resolutely do not do anything that is harmful to learners, no matter how small. Do everything that is best for learners with all your heart and strength."

Culture creates the mindset for the School in the education system and the mindset for each individual in society.

Building and developing a culture with a unique identity of DNU:

Dai Nam culture not only creates a solid position for Dai Nam University in the education system but also each staff member of the University has a position in society. We need to constantly deepen DNU culture according to the following characteristics:

All DNU staff need to be imbued with Dai Nam culture to be able to accompany, stick together for a long time and shine.

1, We work together at DNU; Work together and enjoy according to each person's contribution; Together build Dai Nam to develop and last; Each member must be proud and happy to work at Dai Nam.

2, Dai Nam University is an ideal workplace for everyone. This is only true for those who truly fit the core ideology and standards of the school. When you work at Dai Nam, either you fit in and thrive in your job (in the best possible way) or you are pushed out immediately.

3. Every staff member must always ask themselves the question “how can we do better tomorrow than today?” When DNU staff, lecturers and employees see a job, they roll up their sleeves and get to work, do it as quickly and as well as possible, and sometimes have to be “patient” to succeed.

DNU students are respected and enjoy the best educational environment.

4. Truly respect students, because students are not only "customers" of the School but also the future "owners" leading and building Vietnam.

5. Evaluate, promote, and appoint the right person for the right job. Small people cannot be assigned to big jobs, but big people must be able to do small jobs. Leaders at all levels must know how to guide subordinates to perform their work effectively and take responsibility as the head of the unit to their superiors.

6. Within DNU, between levels, between units, between individuals, “there is no Win - Lose, only Right - Wrong”. All must work together for the mission and core values of the University. Respect different opinions at all levels in the management system to operate Dai Nam University in the most optimal way possible.

We must have a concept that Dai Nam must be a truly special and different university, then we will transform it into a driving force, take actions, and take solid steps to turn that concept into reality...” Dr. Le Dac Son advised the staff, lecturers, and employees of the University.
