From the belief of the first cohort of students

In 2020, the Medical Faculty of Dai Nam University (DNU) enrolled its first cohort of students, marking the beginning of a journey to build and develop a specialized field of study with the most stringent training requirements in the higher education system.

At that time, alongside the high expectations, there were also considerable concerns about the training capacity of a very new field of study. However, nearly 100 students chose to place their trust in DNU to pursue their dream of becoming doctors.

Out of nearly 100 students enrolled, 95.4% completed their training program and graduated. This is a remarkable completion rate for a program with a 6-year training period and demanding professional requirements.

Not only did many new doctors graduate on schedule, but they were also hired by medical facilities immediately after graduation, while many others chose to continue their studies and research to further their careers.

In particular, the achievements of the group of students participating in the residency exam made a remarkable mark on the first training course of the Medical program at Dai Nam University.

In the medical training system, residency programs are considered highly competitive and selective postgraduate training programs.

Each year, the number of admissions is limited while the competition rate remains high. This is an intensive training environment for students with excellent academic abilities and a long-term career and research orientation.

Therefore, the fact that 7 out of the first 8 students from Dai Nam University who participated in the residency exam at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy were accepted is of special significance.

Among them, student Can Khanh Linh excelled and became the valedictorian of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.

For a new academic program with its first graduating class, this result is not only a success for the individual students but also reflects the effectiveness of the training process that has been built and perfected over the past six years.

More importantly, this is only the result of the first exam. Many other students in the cohort are continuing to prepare for residency exams at Hanoi Medical University, Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and many other leading medical training institutions nationwide.

The quality of training is proven by practical results.

Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University, former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said that the achievements of the first cohort of students have special significance for the university.

"Training doctors is a long journey, requiring serious investment, responsibility, and perseverance. The results of these students are clear evidence of the quality of training, the efforts of the learners, and the dedication of the teaching staff over the years," he said.

According to Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh, what is đáng proud of is not only the high admission rate but also the fact that these achievements come from the very first cohort of medical students at Dai Nam University.

"These students are the clearest evidence of the values that the university has consistently built. Medical students from Dai Nam University have the capacity to compete and assert themselves in the leading medical training environments nationwide," he added.

This motivates DNU to continue investing in training, scientific research, and the development of high-quality medical human resources to serve society.

Sharing his thoughts after receiving the acceptance letter, Vu Quang Phu, a newly admitted resident in Surgery, said: "To achieve this result today, my classmates and I have put in a lot of effort. Meanwhile, Can Khanh Linh, the top-scoring resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology, said that the achievement was both a source of joy and a responsibility.
