Scientific research capacity towards innovation is one of three specific goals set by the Faculty of Information Technology (IT), Dai Nam University (FIT DNU) in the new training program applied from the 2021-2022 school year.

These three goals are respectively: Programming skills, New technology knowledge and Innovative research capacity. This is the competitive advantage of FIT DNU students in the IT human resource market.

At FIT-DNU from the 2021-2022 academic year, right from the first semester of the first year, students have been guided to study using active methods. In addition to lectures, introducing the overall picture, learning methods and main ideas, students participate in seminars, conduct independent research, prepare group presentations and discuss in class with the guidance of lecturers. Major assignments are all aimed at product development and innovation.

From the second semester, students are encouraged to participate in scientific topics and research and development projects. With basic programming skills and initial familiarity with technologies and research methods equipped in the first semester, students can visit the blog fit-dnu.blogspot.com to find suitable topics and projects proposed by FIT-DNU teachers or domestic and foreign collaborators.

If the research has good results, students will be selected to work on real projects of FIT-DNU or partner enterprises. Thus, these students of FIT-DNU will be familiar with and have experience in research and development very early, which not all students at domestic and foreign universities have.

The special feature of R&D capacity at FIT-DNU is not only basic research, but also research associated with technological innovation, allowing students participating in research at FIT-DNU to have a superior advantage in the future whether they study at higher levels, work for businesses or start a business. Scientific research also allows FIT-DNU students to choose specialized fields that are suitable for themselves without having to follow formal sub-majors like many other places. Students participating in scientific research will be recognized with a number of credits in lieu of some elective subjects.

IT students participate in the March 2022 academic event - "Opportunity to participate in researching new technology trends at FIT-DNU"

The main research and development directions will focus on Digital Infrastructure and Internet of Things, Data Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation and Business Applications with many projects and specialized topics in the fields of Smart Building, Cyber Security, Sensors, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Speech and Sound Recognition, Medical Image Recognition, Digital Knowledge Management System, Learning Management System, Digital Transformation of Education, Healthcare, Real Estate and Finance, Supply Chain Management System, Enterprise Resource Planning System ERP, Smart Applications for Business Operations, etc.
